Introduction
Energy and Water Solutions. (EWS) was established in 1996. Our objective is to help prevent damage to our environment by assisting business and home owners to develop practical ways of saving energy, water and reducing waste. By reducing energy and water consumption, businesses can cut costs and increase profits, while reducing greenhouse gases and preserving resources. EWS is a member of the SEDA Energy Smart Allies program and the Sustainable Energy Industry Association.

Background
Since October 1996, EWS audited and retrofitted over 50,000 businesses and homes, including 42,000 homes for Sydney Water's "Every Drop Counts" Program. EWS was also contracted by The Sustainable Energy Development Authority of NSW (SEDA) to audit and retrofit 3,500 housing association homes as part of their Community Housing Energy Program.

EWS has also been involved in retrofitting homes for the Marrickville Council as part of their Waterwise and Energy Smart campaign, Leichhardt Council and North Sydney Council. Managing Director Rick Roberts has had twenty years experience in the building industry. Marrickville Council presented EWS with a Business Environmental Achievement Award for providing improved energy and water saving practises in the Marrickville local Government area. In 2001 we opened The Natural Paint place as a retail outlet for environmentally responsible products.

Energy and Water Solutions offer Environmental Audits for Homes and Businesses. All Home audits include Energy, Water, Waste and general environmental health issues. Business Audits include Energy, Water and Environmental Health.

Retrofitting
Energy and Water Solutions offer a complete retrofitting service for businesses and home owners. After identifying areas of potential savings we can install or arrange for installation of energy and water saving devices. We have an extensive range of guaranteed and proven products.

QuickSilver Reflectors
QuickSilver Reflectors are an energy cost saving product specifically designed to increase the efficiency of fluorescent light fixtures. Installed onto single or multi lamp, surface mounted, recessed or batten lighting fixtures, the Silver Reflectors are designed to increase and redirect the level of light leaving the fixture.

It is possible to provide improved lighting control and uniformity and a higher level of lighting while removing up to 50% of lamps, cutting operating and maintenance costs in half. In addition to the cost benefits of fewer lamps, Silver Lamps decrease the cost of air-conditioning because the heat of the room is decreased. Thus QuickSilver Reflectors can provide an improved working environment whilst dramatically reducing maintenance and operating costs.

Air-Cell Insulation
Specified for its fibre-free, non-allergenic & non-irritant rating in addition to its advanced thermal performance. AIR-CELL RETROSHIELD in commercial and domestic applications achieves thermal performance comparable with up to 120mm of conventional mass/fibre insulation, offering three way protection against conductive, convective and radiant heat flow. Rated R3.6

Reflect Insulating Coating
Reflect is a flexible, extremely durable acrylic coating which provides a surface that is resistant to radiated heat penetration. Reflect can be applied internally or externally to all building design and construction shapes providing substantial energy savings.

It has excellent insulating properties and can reduce internal temperatures by up to 12 degrees C. Consequently, air-conditioning costs can be reduced substantially. Reflect is toxic free and offers long term protection, as it is waterproof, moisture and moisture-vapour proof and resistant to ultra-violet rays.

Energy Saving
Skylights, solar hot water systems and heat pump hot water systems, all of which help reduce operating and maintenance costs while reducing greenhouse gases. Compact Fluorescent Lamps, Draft Prevention and Solar Products. An assessment from EWS will identify any potential savings and we can advise on retrofitting.

Water Saving
We carry a large range of Water Saving Devices, including AAA Rated Showers, Water Efficient Aerators, Cistern Converters (For Converting Single Flush Toilets to Multi Flush), Greywater Diverters and Rainwater Tanks. EWS is also an Agent for JEM Australia Flow Control Systems.

Natural Plant Based Paints
Energy and Water Solutions is the NSW Wholesale Distributors for BIO Natural Plant Based Paints and Sydney Retailers for BIO and Livos Natural Paints and Floor Oils. We carry a full range of Wall Paints, Enamel Lacquers, Natural Thinners, Natural Paint Strippers, Floor Oils, Furniture Stains and Cleaning Solutions. All Natural Paints are free from Petrochemicals and meet the Australian Standard AS 1580.

Commercial Audits
Energy and Water Solutions offers Commercial Audits specialising in Fluorescent Lighting and Water Saving. An Audit will identify potential energy and water savings and our report will provide information such as Cost Savings, Maintenance Savings, Internal Rate of Return, Pay Back Periods and Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions. Audits are available for Private Companies, Government Agencies and all other types of premises.

Commercial Retrofitting
Energy and Water Solutions specialise in Energy Efficient Fluorescent Lighting. We can retrofit existing fixtures with 95% Specular Silver Reflectors and Tri-phosphor Lamps for energy savings of 50% or replace existing fixtures with Energy Efficient Fixtures. We also specialise in Water Savings by using flow control valves for energy, water and maintenance savings.

Home Audits
Energy and Water Solutions offer home audits in the Sydney Metropolitan Area. The Audit will cover all areas of environmental importance such as Energy, Water, Waste and Environmental Health. We can show you how to reduce your energy and water bills without compromising your lifestyle. We can show you how to reduce your household waste, re-cycle and re-use it. We can also advise on Environmental Health in the home.

Our Customers

Since October 1996 Energy and Water Solutions (EWS) has Assessed and Retrofitted over 50,000 Businesses and homes. Estimated yearly savings are over $2,000,000, more than 100 million litres of water and over 25,000 tonnes of Greenhouse Gases. • The Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) - Lucy Rowe Ph 9249 6113

EWS has retrofitted over 3,500 homes for energy and water saving for SEDA. This was part of the Community Housing Energy Program for The Department of Housing. Retrofitting included water restriction in showers, bathroom basins, kitchens and toilets; energy saving lighting; draft prevention and ceiling insulation. EWS were also the Project Managers for SEDA's Solar in Schools Program.

In a joint venture, we have retrofitted 42,000 homes in metropolitan Sydney for water and energy saving. This is part of the "Every Drop Counts" program by Sydney Water.
